Love and Other Things that Kill; Chapter 4: Escargots and Champagne Lies
Alexis huffed as she pulled the soft yellow suitcase out from the apartment kitchen. Roxanne ran behind her in muddied steps, hands holding a purse and lipstick. Alena and Margot followed behind, helping Alexis stagger into the elevator and out to the limousine. The chauffer grabbed her bags and flipped the back open as he sifted them into the trunk. Alexis huffed, hands combing through her hair as she turned around to look at her daughter and friends. Roxanne pushed her hands towards her mother, purse and lipstick sticking towards Alexis’s face.
“Thank you, baby,” Alexis sighed, hands coming to press to Roxanne’s cheeks, pulling the little girl in for a large kiss. Roxanne hugged her daughter, her realization that she had never left for this long, let along go across the world, from her daughter.
“Mama,” Roxanne said, frown on her lips. Alexis teared up, pressing a sweet kiss to her daughter’s forehead.
“You be good to Aunti Alena and Margot, you got that?” Alexis said, brows turning as she looked at her daughter. Roxanne nodded, big bouncy brunette curls jumbling atop her head. Alexis laughed lovingly, kissing her daughter again.
“You’ll be back before you even say bonjour,” Margot smiled, hugging her friend. Alexis laughed, nodding slightly.
“Yea, just wish you guys could come.”
“It’s okay,” Alena smiled, picking up Roxanne in her arms. “You’ll be back soon. You’ll have a great time!”
“Yeah,” Alexis huffed. “I’ll be completely alone, without anyone I know, surrounded by hundreds of people and celebrities, all eyes on me. So, fantastic.”
“You wanted to be an actress,” Margot added, giving a side eye. “This comes with the job.”
Alexis bit her lip, head turning to look at her phone as she unlocked it. “I’ve got to go. I love you girls.”
“Love you,” her friends smiled, moving backwards. Roxanne’s lip quivered as she waved softly to her mother. Alexis smiled at her daughter sympathetically, waving and getting into the vehicle, shutting the door as she pressed her hands to her eyes, slight tears peaking at the corners.
The airport was a rush of busyness. People moved in and out, all over and around as they tried to get to planes and cars. Alexis frowned as she moved around, eyes looking all over for her manager, Karenna. Suddenly, from the corner of Alexis’s eye, a bright snapping light caught her off guard.
“huh!” she yelped, eye blinking wide when two more snaps were shot in her face.
“Alexis! Look here!”
Her lips parted as she moved backwards, a hand firmly grabbing her wrist. She turned her head and looked at Karenna, the woman’s bright silver blonde bob shaking as she pulled Alexis away from the photographers.
“I thought I told you to meet me a gate check five,” Karenna snapped, eyes narrowing at Alexis.
“I know,” Alexis said, body caving inwards slightly. “I got lost.”
“Girl,” Karenna sighed with irritation, hand tugging Alexis and the other carrying her white leather purse. Alexis frowned.
“How was I supposed to know they would be there!” she yelped as Karenna pulled her down another hall, body sifting through the crowd. “I’ve only been on television once!”
“Once is enough,” Karenna bit, crystal blue eyes cutting through Alexis’s self-esteem. “You’re one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood, don’t forget that. Paps will follow you around till you die, this is your life. Learn it.”
Alexis shut her mouth. She turned her head, face looking to the ground in shame. She really was an amateur, didn’t belong in this world, and that was all starting to smack her right in the face.
“The dress will be in the hotel when we get there, try it on one more time when we arrive to see if it fits,” Karenna noted as she pushed the red lipstick along her lips. Alexis nodded, mind somewhere else as they boarded the international plane. They had connections and long waits until Cannes, and Alexis quickly popped her earbuds in as she settled into the seat near the window, eyes closing slightly as the captain began to go over procedures.
Thirteen hours later and Alexis was quickly shaken awake, the darkness in the cabin causing her eyes to squint. She turned her head, Karenna’s hand pushing it back to the window, Alexis’s eyes widening as she realized what she was woken for. The Eifel Tower sparkled like golden glitter as they flew by, the effervesced glow of Paris Alexis’s lips to part, her heart surging at the beauty.
“Wow,” she whispered, eyes taken by the gorgeous image.
“Paris,” Karenna said blandly, finger going back to sliding along her phone. “It’s pretty.”
Just pretty?Alexis thought it was the most beautiful place she ever saw.
When they arrived at the airport, they hurried away from more paparazzi and to the hummer limousine awaiting them. Hues of flashing lights sparkled behind them and the chauffer quickly shut the door before they could get any real shots of Alexis in her grey sweats that Karenna had scorned multiple times already. They drove all the way to Cannes, the eight and a half hours slipping by quickly as Karenna educated Alexis on who was going to be attending the film festival, what she would have to say, and who she needed to be seen with.
“Try grabbing a drink with Leonardo,” Karenna advised, her hand flipping through magazines. “He’s gorgeous, and has a new movie coming up. Could score you a shot there.”
“What about Jack?” Alexis asked, brows pulled.
“What about Jack,” Karenna asked, eyes narrowed and glimmering in the faint light of the car, the darkness of the night draped in the outside world. “Honey, we all know you’re the one with talent. Jack will worry about himself. He’s already getting enough pub with his name behind yours.”
Alexis ticked her fingers together, the thought irking her slightly. She liked Jack, thought he was sweet and kind, and got her the movie in the first place. However, whether she likedJack was an entirely differently question.
When they arrived at the hotel, the doormen made quick work of gathering their bags. Karenna opened the car door, her eyes glistening at the tall and beautiful hotel. She licked her lips, helping Alexis out of her seat and onto the pavement as they made their way to the front desk.
“Maine,” Karenna said in a monotone voice, nails picking at her skin as she awaited the key. The receptionist smiled, a short merci leaving his lips as she snagged Alexis by the hand, Alexis waving to the short guy standing behind the desk.
“I got you a surprise,” Karenna said as they rose in the elevator. Alexis looked at her with raised brows.
“What?”
“Well, it’s not so much a surprise now since I told you, but I did.”
“For what, though.”
“The Vogue Parisafter party following the festival,” Karenna said, hand pulling her purse along as they exited the elevator, deep red velvet carpet and white to crème colored walls with gold mirrors welcomed them.
“I’m going to what?” Alexis said, eyes wide.
“Alexis, if you keep asking questions, people are going to think you’re, deaf or something,” Karenna gave her a look, fingers pushing the key card into the door. “Not that that’s a problem, of course. My brother is deaf in his right ear. It’s just you sound like a parrot so please try and keep up.”
Alexis shut her mouth at that, quietly following Karenna into the hotel room. She flipped on the light switch, audible gasp escaping her lips as the chandelier lit like a scatter of stars, illuminating the room in a sea of gold. Three French doors opened to the Golfe de la Napoule. Her bed was set elegantly against the wall, opposite of the large bathroom with windows all around the walls, deep soaking bath facing the gorgeous views. Alexis walked forward, lips parted permanently as she found two dresses situated in the center of the room on maniquines.
“Holy fuck,” she whispered, fingers touching the soft pink fabric of the first gown, the sewn intricate golden flowers scattered knowingly around the waist and skirt. The second dress, a deep wine-red silk gown with thin straps and a high slit that surely would come up to her lower hip. How would she wear underwear? And the fit, surely welcoming her curves in every way.
“It was a killer to snag,” Karenna said after a moment, small smile on her lips. “But I get what I want. You’ll look ravishing. He’ll love it.”
Alexis turned at that, brows and eyes in shock. “Wh-what?!”
“Oh, Alexis, don’t think I don’t know,” Karenna said in a drag, her long legs taking her to the windows to open the blinds.
“I-I don’t kn-know what you’re talking about!” Alexis stuttered nervously. “H-He can’t be coming!”
“Darling, he isn’t!” Karenna gave her a raised brow. “Jack. I know how much he’ll love the dress. Don’t think I don’t know how much you really like him.”
Alexis’s mouth dried, and at the same time, her heart slowed. Not Shawn.
“O-oh, yea, of course, really do, Jack,” she mumbled, hands pulling her suitcase. Karenna gave an odd, confused look her way, then moved to the door.
“Better be ready for tomorrow,” she said, giving Alexis one last look, before opening the door and leaving.
Alexis let out a deep breath, body falling back against the soft overly-fluffed hotel bed. She closed her eyes, heart and blood pumping at the thought of Shawn. Get over him and his stupid everything! She wanted to slap herself. Why was she still thinking about him! Maybe it was because he was the father of her child, her first love, the only man who made her completely weak in the knees? She rolled her eyes at her thoughts, quickly pushing the suitcase on the floor with her foot and raised to unzip, preparing herself for a much-needed sleep.
The next morning, Alexis woke to a room scattered with maids and fashion and makeup artists. Karenna walked in the room from the balcony, tea in hand and blonde hair in tight curls.
“Great you’re up. Come on, let’s get you primped.”
“But don’t we have time?” Alexis asked, body sifting out of the warm bed.
“Hardly. This is an all-day ordeal! You aren’t just some actress, you’re the actress, the new gem! We need to princess-ed up and ready to go,” Karenna commanded, body turning back to the gulf as she sipped her lukewarm light green tea.
Alexis let the artists and designers mess around her as they prepared her for the evening of festivities. They pulled at her hair, combed and brushed and softened her up. She took an hour-long bath as they scrubbed her feet and hands, painting her nails and lathering her in sweet peony scented lotion.
Alexis called the girls at home, talking to Roxanne with a smile on her face as she listed to her daughters broken baby talk as the designers began applying soft featured makeup on her.
“I want her natural and glowing, like a fucking star,” Karenna said, eyes on them as they continued Alexis’s image. They applied a sweet pink along her lips, soft golden sparkles and peach along her eyes and heavy false lashes that made her look like a Grecian goddess., a seductively innocent tempest.
“Does it fit?” Alexis questioned, eyes watching the team fix her floral dress. The young designer looked up, his smile bright.
“Très belle, mademoiselle,” he sang softly, hands zipping her up. She smiled softly, hands coming to her waist to spread down the flicker of peonies and gold accents. The sun softly set in the back of the windows, and Alexis sighed as the team backed away, admiring her.
“Now,” Karenna smiled, eyeing Alexis fully. “Now you’re a star my darling.”
When they arrived at Cannes, Alexis thought she would puke. Her breathing was sky high, blood coursing through like a race horse.
“Breath, honey,” Timothy, the fashion designer smiled, hand touching her shoulder. “Just breath.”
Alexis nodded, eyes closed and hands shaking. The lights flashing vividly from beyond the tinted window, and with a whoosh, Karenna opened the door with a prayer. Shattering or shouts and cries erupted as Alexis walked out the car, her dark chocolate curls falling down her back and along her shoulders. The paps flashed frantically, yelling her name like a prayer as she moved down towards the beginning of the red carpet. She smiled, sparkling eyes on bright alert as she looked at the clapping crowds, all begging like dogs for her attention. Karenna walked behind her, eyes on the girl, and hand pressing to her back when men looked Alexis up and down, their foreign lips turning to a smile.
“To the news channel we spoke about,” Karenna said in her ear, and Alexis nodded, smiling back at the screaming crowds.
Shawn heard the shouts, the bleak cries and screams and flashes of the cameras, and he cursed God when he turned around, his heart stopping at the angel down the red carpet.
“Holy,” he breathed. Alexis walked down the carpet, long pink floral train flared behind her, the soft golden crown situated pettily above her voluminous curls. Her dress fit perfectly, drawing his lip between his teeth as he looked at her sensual form, her everything shocking him completely. She didn’t even notice his staring, didn’t notice his shocked gaze or drooling mouth as she walked to the television stand, her smile widening as she talked to them.
He didn’t really know what to do, he was in a state of complete awe. God how she changed, and how he wanted to talk to her, at least ask her how she was, what she was doing at this crazed place. Then, her turned her head, sweet lips dancing in a large smile at something the host said, eyes falling on Shawn’s staring form from down the carpet. She stopped, visually stuttering. At that, Shawn did the same, his lips wet from his tongue, pink from him biting.
Alexis felt the air rush out of her system, completely taken by his suit clad form. But more of a shock, his complete stare on her form, the look in his eyes saying one thing.
You.
“Miss Maine?”
“Huh?” she asked, eyes wide. “Oh! Yes, Jack and I are totally happy, and so excited for the move.”
The host smiled and shook her hand, and she quickly made her way down the stairs and back to Karenna. She took a deep breath, eyes glancing up to see Shawn still staring at her. She didn’t know what to do, her heart was lapping to a hundred miles.
“Let’s go,” Karenna motioned, walking forward. Alexis nodded, silently following after as she felt her body burn. She moved forward, heel clad feel snapping along the carpet, Shawn’s form coming even closer to her as she moved to the entrance.
Now!Shawn yelled to himself, his hands shaking as she came closer, her head forward and not looking his way. She saw you, fucking talk to her! She walked next to him, body in arm length, and then into the banquet hall, slipping past him as he watched her walk away. His throat clenched, mouth dry as he sensed the waft of peony from her skin.
Alexis fought herself to move forward, hands clenched into themselves as she kept on after Karenna, knowing better than to turn towards Shawn and ruin everything she prepared herself for. They didn’t see each other till the end of the evening. The festival had gone as planned, film after film previewed again and again, and Alexis made sure to frequent the bar to collage with different actors and directors.
Karenna motioned Alexis out of the banquet early as many others did the same, stating that she needed time to prepare for the Vogue party. Shawn noticed her leaving form, heart spinning at her leaving image. God, she was so different, confident, beautiful, a woman, yes, that was what she really was, with those hips and legs and chest and eyes, fuck he realized how gorgeous her eyes were, how had he never seen before? He wanted to talk to her, fucking himself over the head for not doing it at the entrance.
The red dress fit Alexis like a glove, the red silk fitting formally along her hips and waist, the lowness and shallow cut on the sides of the dress making her nervous that her breasts would completely slip out. The slit of the dress came to her mid hip, her legs glowing from the soft shea butter the Timothy and Karenna agreed on, the soft glimmer of glitter flickering along her skin.
“I’m scared,” Alexis confided to Timothy, causing him to look up.
“My amour, why?” he asked, thick accent causing her to smile faintly.
“What if you…you saw someone, from your past. And you loved them, so, somuch, and still…well, you saw them again and they maybe forgot you, and now you think they remember but you are in a relationship, so you can’t feel anything for them, and they don’t know about a lot that has happened, and you still think they are the most absolute gorgeous human on the planet….” She paused, realizing how she sounded. Timothy looked up at her with a smirk, his fingers flicking the snap on the strappy gold shoes. “Fuck.”
“Fuck is right,” he said with a laugh, looking behind her quickly. “But I would say, of course this is just if this happened, but I’d say talk to them.”
“Even if they fucked up?” She asked, lip pulled to her teeth.
“Everyone deserves to be heard, my amour,” he smiled, finger pushing her brown curls behind her ear.
She sighed, palms sweating as she turned towards the door, trying to ready herself.
The after-party was busy, and to Alexis’s demise, Karenna left her at the bar to fend for herself. She called it, ‘Throwing her into the fire’ and Alexis didn’t that that was a totally great teaching idea.
“You gotta be in the fire to get out!” Karenna explained, leaving her.
“Damn it, Karenna,” Alexis muttered, body turning to the bar to order a drink. The music thumped loud and the room was a dark and deep color that seemed to dim well around the figures. Lights were soft and chandeliers were a beautiful crystal. Pure elegance emitted from the room.
“Alexis?” a soft voice preened in the music, hand coming to her exposed back and she shuttered, jumping slightly to see the person, immediately regretting the decision.
He was wearing a black blazer that fit too well, white shirt tight and showing the tan of his perfect glowing skin. His hair was soft, so curly and warm and goodthat she wanted to run her fingers through it. His cheeks were pink, lip between his teeth nervously.
“Shawn,” she breathed, voice foreign to her ears. It was soft, a slight airy seduction that caused his cheeks to brighten even more. His hand came forward, taking hers hesitantly on the bar, their fingers mixing softly. He felt the same, the coarse fingers and the soft touches. Their bodies tingled, both missing the feeling, Shawn realizing how much he missed her softness against his hardness.
“Holy fuck,” he laughed slightly, hand coming through his curls wickedly. She didn’t know what to say, she had been imagining this moment for three years, and never had it been this way.
“You’re different,” he breathed, looking at her entirely. “Wow.”
She gulped, eyes flicker to the table and head turning. “You look the same, only taller.”
He curved his brows, feeling slightly guilty. “Look, Alexis, I know we had a… difficult parting, but I want to let you know that I want us to be friends.”
Friends!Shawn almost slammed himself to the floor. She looked at him with wide eyes, lips parting. Fuck.
“Friends?” she asked shakily, hands clenching and ripping from his grasp. “You dump me because you got famous, left me to wallow in sadness while you got rich and slept with girls, and are asking to be friends?” She laughed, hand coming to the glass of champagne set for her. “Wow, you really are full of it.”
Shawn frowned deeply. “Alexis, I said I was sorry. What’s on with you?”
She clenched her jaw. “Me? Me!” she stared at him with pursed lips. “Are you serious?”
He raised his brow.
“Shawn, you fucking forgot me,” she hissed, eyes fiery red. He frowned at her.
“You look different Alexis, I’m sorry!”
“You just expect me to forgive you, just like that!” she took another swig of champagne. “Shawn, you fucked me over.”
“It’s been years, Alexis, can’t we move on?” He argued, hand grasping the bar thickly.
“Oh, like how you did when I slipped your mind completely?” she spat, eyes in a deep killing glare. “You know, you’ve changed too. But, I always remembered your smile, that never faltered in every image, every tabloid. Your breath-taking smile that always cured everything. You were still the man I knew, in those pictures at the store, following me around. Bur now, with you here, I realized what a lie that was.”
Shawn gaped at her, and he stumbled after as she walked away, quick after her. “What the fuck are you talking about!”
“You!” yelled, hands high and music loud thankfully. “You changed. The Shawn I knew would have never forgotten me, not once. This world, it changed you for the worst. I can’t believe I still loved you!”
He stilled, eyes wide. “You…you love me.” His heart raced, hands turning to jelly. She loves me.
“Lovedyou,” she hissed, eyes tearing up. “I had, some other time. But now…I don’t even know who you are. I have someone else.”
“What?” Shawn argued. “That plastic ken doll? You always liked the rough, real guys, Alexis, come on.”
“At least he doesn’t leave me when he gets big,” She spat. “He brought me up, not down.”
With that, she walked away, hips swaying in that silky red gown, leaving Shawn completely alone in the glimmering night. Shawn cursed into the night, body turning to the restroom as he pushed himself inside, fist slamming on the door.
“Fuck!” he yelled out, body shaking as an old man walked from the stall. He looked at Shawn, eyes raking the young heart throb from head to toe.
“You let her walk away?” he asked, hands pushing the water on. Shawn stared at him, lips parting as his heart break, realizing what he had done for the second time, and again what he did to her heart too many.
“I let her walk away,” he whispered. “And I broke her heart.”
“Why do you care,” the old man asked, hands coming to his spare hair. “You’re the one who did it.”
“I didn’t mean to!” he exclaimed, walking forward, hair frazzled. “She gets me crazy.”
“Crazy for her,” the man laughed. “Listen kid, you want a woman, you fight for her back.”
Shawn watched as the man walked away, patting Shawn on the back before leaving him with his thoughts, Shawn leaning against the counter as he looked down.
I’m still crazy for her and I let her walk away.

As the first day of 2019 comes to a close, it seems absolutely insane to look back at what I’ve accomplished, what I’ve rid myself of, what I have moved forward from, and all I have helped to grow. At this point last year I had been using Tumblr for less than 2 months, and now I can say It’s been over a year and I completely forget my anniversary in the midst of trying to achieve my dreams and remembering to try again everyday to love myself. I don’t think any of you, all of you actually, will understand the hand you have played in my journey. I know that this is the internet, that there is a real life out there, (and I am so very blessed with mine) but sometimes {more often than you’d think} it is the smallest things that shape us
@pinkanddepressed when I type an @ symbol your blog name pops up first. I think that’s pretty representative of real life. Of how you always, without fail, catch me right before I hit the ground hard. Of how you never let me forget that I am loved for no other reason besides the fact that I am this crazy mess of a person, and that if people are good enough, if they are right for you, they will see that. You still make me feel beautiful every single day. I can never tell you how unreasonably much I love you, and I will never be able to thank you the way I want, but look out- because one day our timing will be right, and from then who knows
@captainharoldsstyles I do not like peas. They are on a list of very short foods I will not eat, and yet you are the other pea in my very small pod. You see my messy, my terrible awful messy, and my happy, my goofy silly, annoying side. You have been my rock more than you will ever know. I don’t think you understand the strength you lend to those around you, some days I wonder if you’ll ever know. I promise I will never stop reminding you of your strength, and your real-life beauty, and how I will be here if all else fails, I will be here. Thank you, for always loving me, and for staying
@brittanyzelazno to the person who understands me on another level, one that transcended likes and dislikes and wearing socks to bed, and straight to the core, I am so glad we found each other. I am so glad I have found a bit of magic that gets to exist for me even on the gloomiest of days. I love every single cat picture you send me, every book spine love letter, every picture perfect we’ll get there some day. I am eternally grateful for having someone who knows what the getting from here to there is like, and who still feels like hope. 2019 will be a new bloom for us, here’s hoping for a kitten.
@siennarossi my beautiful, beautiful Nics. The person who makes me want to reach out and pick up life and cradle it, and remind myself that I am not finished yet, that there is still softness left, that even the most wonderful people don’t even have it all figured out (there’s no fun in that anyway). The person who reminds me forgiveness is a powerful weapon, use it on yourself. That love may not be just around the corner, but maybe it’s around the corner and down the stairs, and out the door, and three blocks down and you just have to get to it. Who also reminds me that there is no shame in never making it around the corner on some days. Thank you for being a guiding light.
@shawnmend-yes a little ray of sunshine, I’m sorry that if on most occasions I keep you folded in my back pocket just for myself. I do not think you understand the extent to which my heart has grown accustom to yours. Pretty words don’t sum it up, this isn’t poetry this is me reminding you that i would swallow the oceans between us just to look at the way your fairy lights were reflecting perfectly on your wall and you just needed to show someone. I would swim for days to bake a tart, and take a walk with a very good boy, and plot my first real revenge plan on a brother who is too grumpy all the time. I cannot write you a story, or an epic, or a prose, ours is already writing itself and it is the most beautiful thing to stand back and watch
@englishmuffins74 you make me so happy. You make me feel things that are sometimes hard to remember to feel on my own. You make me laugh. You make me feel like there is a little piece of home out there, thousands of miles away. You believe in me, and I think that is the most important gift you can ever give to someone. For that, and for everything you do for me every single day without even knowing I love you, and I thank you. Kocham cię.
@softboyshawn for quite literally being a safe haven for me. For letting me find in you, comfort and warmth, and a place where I am loved and accepted and never questioned. For letting me grow and alter and change in front of you, and for always pulling me back to my roots. For sharing your dreams, and listening to mine. For offering an escape from everything that hurts me and showing me instead everything that loves me, that cherishes me, that is rooting for me tucked away in some cozy cabin that’s not so far from reality after all. You are incredible thank you for allowing me to find shelter in you
To @smallerinfinities, and @mendeshoney who always offer up some love. Who show me what it’s like to create something from your fingertips and heal, to mend people, to kindle hope in the form of words that reach you when nothing else can. Thank you incredibly much for supporting me, and for being people who I trust and value, and aspire to be, for letting me use your words to remind myself about love and life and all the wonderful mess that has to happen in between, Thank you for always making me feel like this girl has the power to write her own story- one with an ending she chose. I love you both.
To @justanothershawngirl, @someoneunimportantxx, @mendesftoakley, @sweetheathens and @theclairebitchproject for every time that I felt alone reminding me that I wasn’t. For being there, which sometimes is the hardest and yet the most important. For listening, and caring, and helping me smile and reminding me of the pure good that can come from within a human soul. You mean so much to me.
I know there are about 6 more blogs I should mention by name, but for tonight you’ll have to excuse me because I have snot running down my face and my keyboard is drowning. I am crying, but I am happy. And I love you all, always. Now I’m going to bed
💕 💕 B
Anytime love. Anytime. Glad I can make you smile! 💕💕

Warnings: mentions of alcohol (casual)
Waterbelle [s.m. one-shot]
Shawn laughed loudly as the alcohol liquidated his veins, his deep navy G&J snapback humorously pushed down the front of his face by his frat brothers, music of the party thumping loud and bellowed. He yelled out, moving the hat back, the cap placed backwards on his head.
“Fuck you,” he laughed, pushing his friend jokingly with his fist. They laughed, hands clapping on his shoulder, other college students swarming around the house and dancing wavily to the music.
Y/n walked up the yard of the house, the windows illuminating with shadowed moving figures and the lights of the party. She took a breath, arms crossing over her chest as she moved to the open front door. She moved through the frame, her head turning to the side as she looked for her best friend, Amberley.
“Am!” she yelled out into the thick house, the bass pumping music rumbling through the floorboards. Loud chatters of friends and feathers and glitter tainted around the home, her nose rising at the thick smell of bitter liquid near her. She huffed, hands pushing the drunken university students to the side as she tried to move around the room.
She was suddenly pushed by a flinging hand, her teeth biting into her lip harshly and causing her to yelp, hands pushing against a firm back.
“Fuck!” she cried out, hand coming to her mouth. Shawn turned and looked down at the young woman standing behind him, her fingers pushed against her lower lip. Shawn’s eyes raked down her body, her image unfamiliar to her.
“Hey,” he yelled, hand coming to her waist. “You okay?”
She looked up, eyes wide at the attractive man. “I lost my friend, you seen her? She’s got bright red short hair, tall and thin,” she yelled to him, his face drawing close to her to hear better. He shook his head at her words, turning and looking at his friends.
“Eh, you guys seen a tall thin red-head around?”
“In my dreams!” one of his friends choked, eyes winking at y/n drunkenly, causing her to roll her eyes. Shawn laughed, body turning back to face her.
“Here, I’ll help you find her,” he yelled, body coming to stand tall as he looked over the crowd.
“No, it’s fine!” she said, hands pushing him back weakly and moving to the crowd without him. Shawn curved his brow, lips turning into a smile at her moving form.
“Wait!” he yelled, placing his drink on the bookcase next to him and shuffling after her. His curls pushed around the edges of his hat, soft brown eyes wide and lips fully in a smile. “Listen, I know everyone here, let me help.” He grabbed her arm, stopping her in the middle of the room. She looked up at him, sighing and finally accepting his request.
Shawn smirked at her, taking her hand in his as he walked her out of the room and towards the backyard. When he pulled her through the opened sliding doors, the air seemed to instantly cool her heated form. She sighed at the cool breeze, arm rubbing against his. He looked down at her, lip coming between his teeth as he noticed the cut along her lower lip, the pink skin plumping. His finger came to her mouth hesitantly, softly pushing the skin with his thumb as the slight blood collected. She looked at him with wide eyes, her hands gripping his bicep at the action.
“You’ve got a cut,” he mumbled, voice thick and slightly rough. She shivered, tongue wetting the tender skin.
“Bit it when I bumped into you.”
“Hmm,” he hummed, eyes scanning her face. Her cheeks heated slightly, his eyes causing her to flush. “Let’s find your friend,” he said nervously, hand coming to the back of his neck as he walked her out into the yard. It was more of a diversion to stop him from pushing her against the wall and kissing her damned lips right there, but Shawn factored that she wouldn’t have been kind towards the intrusion.
“Oh god,” she moaned in dismay, the two coming upon a young red-head girl and blonde boy skinny dipping in the pool, laughs and shouts escaping them. The yard was scattered with more college students, some sitting on the edge of the pool or walking around the yard.
“Amberley, come on, really!” y/n sighed, arms crossing. “Let’s go home.”
The girl shook her head, hands pushing over her deeply wet hair. “No!”
Y/n narrowed her eyes. “Amberley, we have a Psych exam tomorrow.”
“I’m not becoming a psychologist!” the girl exclaimed, lips coming to a laugh as the blond boy pulled his arms around her and pushed her out of the water playfully.
“Looks like someone’s having a good time,” Shawn mumbled with a smile, causing y/n to give him a disapproving look. He crossed his arms against his chest in similar fashion to her, his biceps bulging.
“Are you mocking me,” y/n said, lips parting and brow pulled as she turned to face him completely.
“Maybe,” he said, lips turning to a smile. “Or maybe I’m just trying to distract you so I can push you into the pool.”
She raised her brows, lips parting in a shout as he pushed her back with a laugh, her hands grasping his white Saint Laurent shirt as she pulled him with her into the pool.
“Fuck-shit!” she screamed, body submerging in the cool water. Shawn’s body engulfed in the water after her, his arms securing around hers, her legs coming around his waist as he pulled her upwards towards the surface. Shouts and laughs were heard as they came to the top, both gasping for air. Shawn laughed, hands coming to her face as he tried to dry her eyes, finger coming to her lips again as he smoothed slightly.
She fluttered her lashes, hands soft against his neck. “You asshole,” she breathed, lips forming to a wry smile, unable to get angry at the young man.
“You’re beautiful,” he said softly, lips in a smile as his hands cupped her jaw. Her lips parted, eyes sparkling at him.
“You’re drunk,” she breathed. “And you barely know me. We’ve just met.” The water waded around them warmly. His shirt stuck tight to his body, her chest touching his rock-hard abs.
“Not drunk,” he gasped as she dipped his head in the water, raising to shake his head, deep brown curls drenched with water, snapback floating behind him. “And I can get to know you, pretty girl.”
She laughed slightly, her cool composure leaving slightly.
“I’m y/n,” she sighed, hand coming to wade in the pool water.
“Shawn,” he smiled boyishly, fingers combing back her wet hair. “This’s my frat.”
She giggled, nodding. “Assumed so.”
He blushed, eyes sparkling and arms pulling her against him softly as they floated in the water, stars sparkling as the party continued on.

(PART 2/8)
-
They got out of his car and walked towards the elevator in the parking garage. The elevator itself was nicer than her whole apartment building.
“Are Gia and Sophia going to be here?” Olivia asked Shawn as they walked into the lobby.
“Yeah they’re always here.” He waved to the woman at the front desk before pressing the up button on the elevator.
“Sophia really likes Daniel.” She sighed as they walked into the elevator. Shawn pressed the penthouse button.
“Yeah, they probably won’t even be out with everyone right now.” He smirked and looked over at her.
“What do you mean?” She furrowed.
“They like to hangout in Daniel’s room.”
“Why? Then-“ Her face flushed as she realized what Shawn was trying to get at, “oh” she muttered.
Shawn looked over at her and chuckled lightly at her cluelessness. The doors opened and he eyes widened. There were a lot of people. She took a step forward exiting out of the elevator. She stood at the top of the steps that led down the big living room. There were people everywhere dancing, drinking, and laughing. Here and there she spotted some celebrity.
“Let’s get you a drink.” Shawn whispered against her ear. Startled she faced him as he smirked.
“Uh sure.” She stuttered out. Tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.
Shawn walked over to the big kitchen and Olivia followed. She couldn’t see her friends anywhere so she wasn’t leaving Shawn’s side since she didn’t know anyone else.
“What do you drink?” Shawn asked as he leaned against the counted next to the fridge and alcohol bottles that were on his other side.
“Uh beer is fine.” She gave him a tight lipped smile.
“You got it.” He opened the fridge and grabbed two beers. He placed them on the counter before grabbing a bottle opener. Olivia watched as his back muscles flexed as he opened the bottles. His back looked really good. He turned around handing one to her, she took a step forward and grabbed it from him. She took a sip and as she brought the bottle away from her lips someone walked behind her and slightly pushed her forward. She places her free hand on Shawn’s chest and his wrapped around her waist.
“You gotta quit running into me.” He smirked.
“Very cliche of you.” She mumbled with reddened cheeks. Olivia took a step back and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
“So, what made you go to the race today? I’ve never seen you around.” He began to make conversation.
“Umm boredom I guess.” She shrugged, “Gia and Soph have been trying to get me to come for weeks and I finally caved.”
“I wish you would have caved sooner.”
“It’s not really my scene. Especially this.” She chuckled motioning to the people around them.
“I get that. Everyone to their own.” He shrugged.
“Why do you race?” She questioned, tilting her head slightly.
“It’s fun. It’s a thrill.” He simply stated.
“Kinda dangerous don’t you think?”
“What’s the point of doing something you love if you’re not willing to take a risk.”
“So this is what you want to fo for the rest of your life? race?” She questioned with a furrowed brow.
“No of course not. This is my hobby that I’m very passionate about. But I want to do for the rest of my life sounds like a first date question. So I’ll give you that answer on our first date.” He smirked bringing the bottle up to his lips.
“First date?” She asked baffled. This gorgeous man wants to go on a date with me? she thought to herself.
“Yeah. Me and you, tomorrow night. I’ll pick you up at six.” He smirked once again.
“Do you ever get tired of smirking?” She rolled her eyes playfully.
“Nope. It’s a habit, so what do you say?”
“I mean sure.” She gave him a small smile.
“Good.” He smiled genuinely this time.
“I like your car by the way.” She smiled at him.
“Thanks, she’s beautiful.”
“She is, the interior is beautiful as well.”
“Especially with you sitting in it.” He smirked, a playful glint in his eyes.
“There you guys are!” Someone exclaimed from behind Olivia. They saved her from being a stuttering mess in front of arguably the most beautiful man she’s ever seen. She turned around and faced Sophia, Gia, and Daniel.
“Dude we thought you guys got caught or something.” Daniel said as they formed sort of a circle in the kitchen.
“Nope, we’re good.” Shawn looked over at Olivia and winked. She blushed and looked at the ground biting her lip lightly to keep a small laugh from escaping.
“I bet.” Sophia smirked.
“I think we’re heading out boys, we have work tomorrow.” Gia stated rolling her eyes.
They all bid their goodbyes and as Olivia hugged Shawn he whispered in her ear, “Can’t wait to see you tomorrow.”
She pulled away with a grin on her face, “see you tomorrow.” She mumbled before waving at him.
-
“So who is Shawn? Like what’s his history?” Olivia asked as the girls sat in the living room. It was the next morning and they were all on their laptops doing homework before they each went to work.
“What do you mean?” Sophia asked peering up from her laptop.
“Who is he?”
“His dad is some big billionaire business guy. He was in Forbes top richest men a couple years in a row. His mom is just a trophy wife. She was some type of beauty queen when she was younger. Almost the same as Russo’s mom.” Sophia explained.
“Does he have a girlfriend?” Olivia asked biting her nails.
“No,” Gia laughed, “Shawn doesn’t do dating. Girls literally throw themselves at him and he ignores them.”
“We’re going on a date tonight.” Olivia blurted out.
“What.” Sophia and Gia said in unison as they both looked up from their screens.
“He asked me last night.” She shrugged.
“O! Your first date in like what?” Sophia exclaimed.
“Ever?” Olivia groaned in embarrassment. She was 21 and she had never been on a date.
“Your first date ever is going to be with Shawn Mendes, the hottest trust fund baby.” Gia said.
“We are helping you get ready later.” Sophia smiled widely.
“Please because I have no idea what to wear.” Olivia groaned as the butterflies in her stomach grew.

Love and Other Things That Kill; Chapter Five: Hollywood’s Newest Stars
The truth was, that Alexis was aware that she and Shawn would most likely meet once again when she was told she would be in Cannes. The only problem was she didn’t know how that would occur. Sure, fantasies of meeting at an award show had leapt in her mind, but they most definitely did not occur in the way that had happened. When Alexis came back to the hotel early, room alone and lights very soft in the distance from the windows, she had found herself laying on the bed, eyes staring at the ceiling as she contemplated what happened.
Shawn did the same, telling his team he returned to the hotel he stayed at, body slightly slouched on the bed as he sat, clad in only his boxers and hair wet from the shower. Why did he always fuck up with her, never say the right thing? Had he always felt the way he was feeling now? He supposed he did, only tried to suspend the feelings because it was easier to work the way. But, when she stood in front of him at the party, completely gorgeous and horrifically broken by his selfishness, he wanted to beat himself over the head.
“Remember Alexis?” Shawn said quietly on the phone, lip coming between his teeth.
“Yea, saw her on television! Can you believe that, how far she’s come! Shawn?” Aaliyah came quiet on the phone, a soft silence falling between the two siblings.
“I messed up with her Aaliyah,” Shawn sighed, eyes closing. “I really messed up.”
“Did you talk to her?”
“Yes. And she hates me, she can’t stand me! And she’s dating some…some fricken ken Barbie,” Shawn huffed, head turning to face out the window. “I don’t know what to do. I don’t even know who I am.”
“Shawn what are you talking about?” His sister said quietly.
“She told me she knew my face, she recognized me. But he person I was, she was horrified of it. I could see it in her eyes,” he whispered, brow pulled in sadness. “Now that I look at it, I don’t even recognize myself. I forgot her, and left her for the fame, the fortune.”
“Shawn, you were literally a kid,” Aaliyah huffed. “You didn’t know what you were doing, she has to understand that.”
Shawn shook his head. “I asked her to be friends. Fucking friends. After not seeing her for three years. Treating her like that.”
“Wow, for a renowned singer you are bad with words.”
“When it comes to her, yeah,” he sighed, falling back on the bed.
“Give her some space, Shawn,” Aaliyah said softly, the words he knew were right but he didn’t want to follow. “Just let her breath. Can you imagine how much this is for her?”
Alexis laid in her bed, fingers hovering sinfully over her phone, Shawn’s social media page bright at her face, the box “Direct Message” winking at her like the devil. She knew better than to say something, knew better than to even speak to him after what happened, but somewhere deep in her soul, she wanted them to talk, because she sill loved him even after this whole fuck up. Yeah, he was a bitch for expecting a quick overcome, but she could hate him forever, knowing it would kill her completely. She opened the link, his Messaging page popping up on her phone. She typed along the keyboard:
[ AlexisMaine ]: hey, it was good seeing you again, and I just—
She stopped, heart skipping when she got the notification of Jack’s text.
Jack : hey babe! Saw the photos of tonight, you looked ravishing
She stuttered, fingers strangling atop the keyboard, eyes shutting tight before deleting the message to Shawn, exiting the app and going to her texts.
Alexis : thanks Jack, missing you.
Jack : missing you, too. See you tomorrow. ♡
She smacked her phone on the bed, head flushed in the soft pillows as she looked up, the soft comforter waved over her body like warm water. A small tear left her cheek, the wet bud rolling down her cheek and into her hair as she sighed into the cool empty air.
✃——–
The plane ride back to LA was more than exhausting, and Alexis wanted nothing more than to drive back home to her daughter and hug her for hours. Her eyes were tired and so was her body, ready for a deep and warm shower in their new bathtub.
“We have a party tonight,” Karenna said monotonously as she read through a celebrity magazine.
“What?” Alexis asked, jaw slightly staying open. “But I’m exhausted!”
“Ah, such is the lift of a rising star,” Karenna sighed, looking up at Alexis with dull eyes. “This party is important, so you’re going.”
Alexis closed her eyes and huffed quietly, turning her head to look out the window of the airplane as they neared the airport. Upon arriving both Alexis and Karenna drove together in a sleek black Lexus to Alexis’s new home close to The Hills. She had purchased the house for Roxanne and her, asking if Aleena and Margot wished to stay with her, but they declined. Jack bought an apartment in downtown LA, vowing to stay near his studios and friends. Alexis liked the house, it’s beautiful exterior and slightly small atmosphere kept her and Roxanne at bay and happy, the dream of a big backyard and pool coming to reality.
When Alexis opened the door of the house, Roxanne cake running from the living room where the television was singing, Aleena and Margot both rising to see who had arrived.
“Mommy!” Roxanne laughed, her little toddler legs fumbling along the wood floor. Alexis laughed, bending down to pick up her daughter with a bright smile, her arms encompassing the little girl with a bright hug.
“Hey baby,” she laughed happily, tears pricking in her eyes. Aleena and Margot smiled happily at the embrace, Karenna walking into the house with a lifted nose, eyes surveying the home.
“Restroom?” she said quietly.
“Down the hall,” Alexis smiled, arms holding Roxanne tight in her arms as she rose. Her friends gave her a side eye as she walked towards them, her lips in a smile. Roxanne jumped around in Alexis’s arms, her bright smile making Alexis laugh as she let her daughter down, the little girl running back onto the couch.
“It has been a longtrip,” Alexis sighed, hands rubbing her temple. “You literally have no clue what happened.”
The two girls looked at Alexis with confusion.
“Shawn talked to me, told me he wanted to be friendsand then proceeded to be confused as to why I was mad. All ag the Vogue party.”
The girl’s mouths dropped when Alexis was done, wide eyes staring at her.
“What did you say!” Margot exclaimed quietly, body plopping on the couch.
Alexis sighed, eyes closing as she tried pushing back the wave of teary exhaustion. “I told him I couldn’t recognize who he was anymore.”
“Oh, that’s good,” Margot comment, brows high.
“No! No, it’s not!” Alexis sighed, body sitting down and hands coming to her face. “Because he looked, looked so real, like he couldn’t believe himself, and I…” she faltered, lips curling to a frown. “I still love him.”
“Alexis, stop!” Margot snapped. “You have Jack! Shawn screwed you over, your crazy to still care!”
“Margot he’s the father of my child,” Alexis seethed quietly, Roxanne still intently watching the television from down the couch. “I’m always going to have feelings.”
“Just, relax,” Alena advised, hand coming to rest on Alexis’s shoulder, her eyes narrowing at Margot who raised her hands in annoyance, walking away to the kitchen.
“He was so handsome,” Alexis sighed, eyes to the ground. “And he was so…I don’t know what to do. I have Jack, but Shawn…”
“You can always try,” Alena smiled softly, hand rubbing on Alexis’s back. “I know it’s…hard, but, maybe you should try to give him a chance. He was young, you both were…”
Alexis looked at her with frowned eyes and a quivering lip. “I’m scared.”
Alena frowned, arms coming to hug her friend tightly. “That’s the beauty of love. It’s horrifying but beautiful at the same time.”
✃——–
Alena was a great shopper, and by great, Alexis meant fantastic. They walked up and down the streets of LA, in and out of shops as they looked for the perfect dress, Alena being more promiscuous in her choices now knowing that Alexis would have the possibility seeing Shawn anywhere. They had settled on a short, steamy sparkling diamond silver dress, the low sweeping cut of the fabric making Alexis nervously excited.
“I look so bad,” she said while looking in the mirror. “My boobs are literally pooling.”
“You look hot, and ready to take on the world,” Alena hyped, eyes bright and smile wide. She touched Alexis’s arms, rubbing softly.
Alexis nodded, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she turned to face her friend. “I guess this is the one.”
That evening was the same as the one in Cannes, a plentiful of makeup help and hair fiddlers, all while Roxanne and her friends watched interested from the sides. Roxanne followed Timothy around like a duckling, interested in every move. When they finished with her hair and face, touching up her dress as best they could, she was escorted down the front of the house and to the black BMW waiting in the front.
“Stay away from Satan!” Margot yelled from the door, hand on Roxanne’s curly brown locks, other hand clutching her purse as she walked forward to leave for a party. Alena pushed Margot slightly, face in a scowl. Alexis smiled nervously, waving to her friends as she skimmed into the car, hands rubbing nervously on her thighs.
The lights of downtown LA were glimmered and iridescent, sidewalks full of gallivanting people as they explored the mystics of the nightlife. Karenna had explained to Alexis that she was attending a dinner party for a high-profile director in Hollywood, and that she was to minge and mangle her way to each attendee’s heart, however still said nothing on Jack’s involvement, who was again not coming to a party with Alexis. She assumed it was alright, Jack was busy just as she was, but she was always nervous for these events, always feeling out of place.
The club was pumping with music when she arrived, and as soon as the car doors opened, lights flashed like fireworks around her, their needy attention flushed in her face like children’s cries. She blinked a few times, slightly stumbling until a hand pressed against her back warmly, casing her to steady. She turned her face, eyes squinted.
“Didn’t they teach you how to look at the cameras?” Shawn joked, lips in a soft smile as he looked at Alexis. Her breath caught in her throat, lips parting as she looked at him. She was about to say something, to protest his intrusiveness, but he spoke before she could, walking her down the carpet.
“I know, I know you don’t want to talk to me, and that I fucked up, but please, just give me another chance to make it up to you, as friends, as whatever,” he said softly.
She didn’t know what to say, her heart pulling and yelling yes!But her mind screaming no!She decided to follow what all the princess movies had advised her.
“Okay,” she whispered, eyes on him. He looked shocked, almost taken back by her acceptance.
“But I’m still mad at you.”
He laughed, a soft noise to her ear. “Good. Wouldn’t be as fun if you loved me right away.”
She rolled her eyes, a soft sigh leaving her lips as they walked into the club, almost a weight lifting off her shoulders at the idea of regaining a friendship with the boy she was still in love with. The party was loud, and Shawn lead Alexis to the bar to grab chips and salsa and drinks, his hope rising to talk more with her.
“I am sorry,” he said, slightly loud and over the music. “Alexis, I should have never done that to you, never should have left, I was so stupid, and young, and—”
“Shawn,” she smiled, hand coming to his warmly. “It’s…I understand.”
He smiled at her, a genuine image which contrasted the world she was surrounded by. His fingers slightly shifted, pointer and middle interlocking with hers slightly, the move catching her off guard. Too fast, your falling and moving like a tidal waveher mind yelled, while her heart willing drowned in the feeling. Her fingers connected with his, feet softly playing with his boot clad feet tapping along the floor.
“You look different,” he said, face preening closer to her. “Look, grown, really good.”
She blushed, hand rubbing along her thigh. “Thanks, you look grown too. Crazy to think how much people can change.”
Shawn nodded, mentally agreeing. She changedaged so well, so strong.A womanthat was really her, an embodiment of perfection. He stared into her eyes, hands full coming together as their fingers interlocked warmly.
“Shawn! Alexis! Photo!” Shawn and Alexis jumped, hands still connected but falling behind their bodies as they turned with shocked smiled, slightly taken off guard. The photographer smiled, waving to them and leaving as they heaved, eyes turning to each other, faces flushed.
“I’m staying at the Andaz,” he yelled to her, lips coming to her ear. “They have a bar!”
She looked at him, their faces almost too close for comfort. His eyes wavered slightly, her heart picking up too fast.
“Really,” she breathed.
“Yeah,” he sighed, almost dreamily. “I am.”
Fucking stop! You’re doing exactly what you don’t want!“I’ve never been.”
Shawn licked his lips. “You should come, I’ll treat you.”
You idiot!“Yea,” she sighed, lashes fluttering. Her heart preened, he was so handsome, and sweet, and kind…” I’d like that.”
His hand fell to her exposed thigh, fingers touching hers softly, eyes still on her. Her breath caught in her throat, lips pulling between her teeth. His curls slightly fell to his face, eyes hooded, lips wet and bitten.
“Alexis…I…I thought about you all day and night and—”
“Everyone, my newest movie stars, Shawn Mendes and Alexis Maine!”
There was a bright light, a spotlight falling flat on the two stars, their body jumping away at the sight as they squinted towards the stage, the director smiling and pointing. There was a loud applause, a sharp cheer. Newest movie stars. Alexis and Shawn looked at each other, their eyes wide. ‘Tonight, is important’ Alexis remembered Karenna’s words. ‘Jack isn’t coming. This is about you’was Karenna only out for Alexis? Seemed so as everyone turned to clap and yell, their smiles wide and excited for the young stars.
“Filming beings soon, as they know, so let’s celebrate!”
The light flickered away from the two, Shawn’s hands wavered next to her thigh, and she absently touched his fingers, theirs both connecting as they looked at each other with shocked faces, both unaware of what was about to take place.
The newest move stars. Fuck.

Smoke Sight [s.m. one-shot]
The musky lights of the speakeasy glimmered the dustiness of the air, the soft smell of cigarettes and strong alcohol filling the void of quietness as the offices moved narrowly around, feet careful not to step upon evidence. Shawn took off his grey suit jacket, throwing it on the side of the sleek wooden bar, hands curling his white dress shirt to his elbows strongly as his eyes surveyed the bar and dance room. The stage lights hazed softly, the glitter and flowers scattered along the light wood flooring.
Shawn moved down the bar, finger gathering the soft dusting of ashes on his finger as he smoothed along the glazed wood. He turned as he reached the end, looking back from the stage, the view of the speakeasy from the left back of the building in his eye. Shawn narrowed his eye, hands shoving in his pocket as he fumbled around for the box of cigarettes.
“Need a cig, babe,” a smooth voice smothered behind him, his body turning as he looked upon a young woman standing near the wall, heeled foot propped up on the brick as she lifted a cigarette with two fingers towards him. He looked her up and down, her exposed legs clad in thin black tights, her short sparkling flapper dress shimmering softly in the dull light. Her eyes sparkled in a glistful way that made Shawn smirk at her.
“Thanks,” he muttered, legs moving closer to her as he took the paper from her lengthened hand, pressing it between his lips. She flicked a lighter in her left hand, coming to the paper and lighting the end softly for him. He watched her, taking an inhale before pulling it back out, slow exhale and lip coming to wet his lips.
“You shouldn’t be out here,” he mumbled, head turning to look back at the officers from his unit, their hands moving with pencils and notepads as they took note of potential leads.
“I’ll do what I want, I work here,” she stated, eyes watching him strongly. “No detective from Manhattan is gonna tell me how to live my life.”
Shawn turned his head towards her, lip turning at her diligence. He walked back into the light slightly, hand pulling out his pad and looking through his notes.
“You knew this girl?”
“Shared a room with her,” she stated, heels snipping along the floor after him, her eyes preening at his notes. “She was a sweet girl,” she said softly.
Shawn looked at her, her face close to his bicep as she stared at the paper. Shawn pressed a finger along her temple, digit pushing a strand of hair from her face.
“You seen the body?” She said, eyes on him. He shook his head, earning her a soft tisk.
“You’re a bad detective,” she mumbled, hand taking his as she pulled him down the stage. Shawn smirked at her, hand pushing the paper back into his pocket. She walked him down a crowd of officers, their hands tipping their hats at Shawn as he passed. He acknowledged them, fingers tightening around her hand as she pulled him around a corner. Down the hall was a set-up of the crime scene, few officers standing around. They looked at Shawn, then at the girl.
“Don’t make me leave,” she whispered, hand coming to his forearm. “Please, I can help.”
Shawn looked at her, her bright eyes staring at him “You should’ve been a perfume model,” he said randomly, causing her brow to turn. “Shouldn’t’ev gone to this.” He was honest at that, her beauty too good for the dusty speakeasy and the most surely prying eyes of men that frocked in and out at all hours of the night. She looked down, lip coming between her teeth. Shawn took her hand, pulling her along with him. The officers gave her a look, Shawn merely raising his hand.
“She’s with me,” he blandly said, hand moving them aside as he came closer to the murder. Her fingers pushed against his skin as her eyes set along the sight of her roommate, the girl laying on the ground in a brutal fashion. Shawn frowned, legs bending as he placed his hands in gloves from a box on the ground. He took his pencil, end pushing the sprawled strand of hair from her face and neck. Red strangled marks etched her skin, large fingers imprinted on the paling flutter of her neck.
“Do we have notes on this,” Shawn asked, head turning to the officers. They nodded, looking at the body then at the head detective.
“Signs of struggle, she has a head injury but not fatal, and there’s marking along her wrists.
Shawn looked down at the girl, noticing a soft red surge along her collar bone. He led the end of his pen, pulling the sparkling dress down slightly along her chest, a bright red burn of a symbol etched into her skin. Shawn felt a hand on his shoulder, the officers around him gaping at the new evidence.
“Didn’t check her fully, did we,” he said, slight irritation in his voice. He turned, the woman coming to kneel before him.
“Oh my god,” she whispered, eyes on the burn.
“You know this?” he asked, brows furrowed.
“Three days ago, MaryAnn and I were out walking back to the house when we saw these marking along the wall, it’s etched into the door just outside!” She looked at Shawn, her brows curved. “She had gone outside earlier in the show.”
Shawn stood at that, hand taking hers and pulling her up. “Show me.”
She took Shawn down the hall, leaving the officers in their place as they walked to the backdoor of the backrooms. She pushed the metal handle, the sheet flying open in the cool wind. She shivered, and Shawn placed his hands along her bare shoulders as they walked outside.
“Here,” she mumbled, pointing up along the wall. Shawn turned, brows curved as he looked upon the graffiti-like paintings on the buildings wall, the deep red pigmented color traced in a circle and a deep dot in the center. Shawn walked forward, hand touching the wall, the red marking along his fingers.
“He’s been here,” Shawn mumbled, face turning to look at the girl behind him. “Was MaryAnn seeing anyone, no one can enter through the door without a key.”
She shook her head, brows in a frown until she stopped, face slowly looking back up at him.
“She was talking to some doctor,” she said softly, eyes wide. “Do you think he did this?”
Shawn sighed. “Not sure, but options are open. She let the killer inside, so he probably had known her. But the motive…” he paused, hand coming to brush through his curls. The girl bit her lip, eyes looking around the alley. The breeze caught up within the brick buildings, the cool night nipping at their skin. Shawn took another drag of the cigarette, frowning when the end blew out.
“Hey,” he said quietly, causing her to turn towards him. He paused, realizing he didn’t know her name. She sighed, a small smile forming on her lips.
“Y/n,” she said, finger flicking at the lighter and relighting his cigarette. “You can call me, y/n.”
Shawn smiled softly at her, however his eyes flicked towards the darkness against the opposing wall. A figure wavered slightly, then, a shiver of light from against the red glowing light above the door.
Shawn pushed y/n behind him, a shout escaping her lips as he pushed her against the wall, his hand pulling out his gun and pulling the trigger, a shout of the bullet ringing along the empty night. Another shot was fired, this one ringing towards Shawn, hitting him square in the shoulder and causing him to curse out into the night. Y/n pulled the gun from his hand, walking to his side and shooting again towards the wall, her brows pulled and eyes wild as her hand continued shifting and pulling the trigger of the gun again and again.
“Y/n!” Shawn yelled out as she moved towards the wall, shots firing violently until they were no more, her body standing still in the cool evening. She shivered, body moving again and towards the intruder. A dark figure laid on the ground, their body strewn against the wall and pavement, blood oozing out of their chest. Y/n took a deep breath, her hands shaking as she dropped the gun to the ground. Shawn groaned as he got up from the wall to walk towards her, his form following after her.
She hiccupped softly, hand finding a soft fluttering piece of paper stuck underneath the hand of the villain. She pulled it with a grunt, finger pushing open the note and looking at the curved intricate letter writing.
“Whore’s need to see the light,” she hiccupped, words bent with her breaths. Shawn knelt beside her, body flinching slightly as the backdoor slammed open, first officers and others filing out.
“You’re next, bitch,” she whispered, hands shaking as she held the paper. Shawn growled, hand taking the paper from her and reading it again to himself, lips soft against the air.
“Jesus help me,” she gasped into the night, body breaking. Shawn took his arm around her waist, pulling her up with him in a groan. She looked at his bleeding shoulder, hand pressing to the gaping muscle.
“Detective Mendes!” someone shouted from the door, the officers crowding out to gather the scene.
“Wrap this up!” he yelled out, hand still holding y/n. “She and I are going back to the office.”
“But, sir—”
“No,” he seethed. “She’s next and I’ll be damned to let this son-of-a-bitch get another woman.”
The officers bit their lips and tongue as Shawn moved back into the speakeasy with y/n on his side. She carried him down the hall and back into the main room, frantic eyes on them.
“You can stay there,” he mumbled, head turning towards her closely. “At the office.”
She bit her lip, arm leading him into the seat of his sleek black vehicle parked on the side of the busy downtown street.
“Okay,” she whispered, hand softly pushing him back to lay flush against the passenger seat. “I’ll stay.”

Her hands rest in the space between her legs, pressed flat against the ground, as she sits on her knees before the mirror in their room. She gasps, as she senses Shawn walk behind her, stripped to his boxers. When she looks up, he’s watching her intently, looking like he is on a mission. “You asked me why I love watching you make yourself cum. . you’re gonna see why, baby.”
She moans at his words, chest pushing out. Her heat is bear but breasts covered in pink lace. Nevertheless, she can see her nipples pearl.
“We’re going to get you to cum, yeah? Make a mess,” Shawn whispers, lowering himself to his knees. She gasps, turning her head to the side to see him lean forward and capture her lips in a heat-filled kiss. She whimpers, bouncing a little as he sucks on her lips, making them swell. “Shit, shit,” she whispers into his mouth, hands itching to reach forward and cup his face. But she can’t, because he’s tied them behind her back with one of his ties.
“Baby,” she moans as he gets up, once more. He stops, hand reaching out to cup her face, admiring her. He forces his thumb into her mouth and she doesn’t disappoint, swirling her tongue around his thumb and bobbing her head.
He hisses, baring his clenched teeth and she moans, eyes fluttering shut. “Eyes open, baby doll, this is what it’s all about.” And she does, seeing the swirling lust in his orbs. She opens her mouth and he slides his thumb out, just a little, till the pad of his finger is resting against her tongue. He slaps his thumb against her tongue a few times, making the wetness in her grow more and makes her grin.
He finishes with tracing his thumb over her lips, then moving to the otherside of the room.
When he comes back, he’s holding ‘Sean’ a play on his name. ‘Sean’ is her trusted seven-inch dildo, coloured a bright pink, which is something she yearns for when Shawn is away. “Open your mouth, kitten.” And she does, the toy slipping past her lips and she sucks on it hard, lubing it up as much as she can. He extracts it from her mouth, his tongue licking at the sides to wet it even more. At the sight of this, she moans even more, louder than before.
“Shh, I got you, you can have it,” Shawn chuckles, leaning down. He slips behind her, parting his legs wide open. He grabs her hips, settle just her ass over his clad cock. She grinds down on him and he brings a hand down on her ass, making her moan out loud and jerk.
He strokes the spot he spanked, moving her thong off her legs before settling her back on him again. He moves her dildo to her front and she gasps, now knowing what’s gonna happen. But then he shoves his boxers off and she gets it.
Without giving it a second thought, the dildo is inside her pussy and he enters her from behind. She gasps at the sensation, feeling so full, and the wetness pours out of her. Her hands, still tied, curl into gists and she begins to rock herself, thrusting back on him, riding him. She can’t see him, but she knows he looks beautiful – she has all of him memorised.
“Fuck me,” she moans out the last word, head falling back. When she looks back ahead, she finds herself in the mirror, flushed pink. She gasps, aroused by her hair messed up, falling in front of her, rosy lips parted wide, cheeks tinged red. She looks like she’s been fucked and it’s only just begun.
She understands him, though. There is a glow on her face and a glimmer in her eyes. But what gets her is how her wetness drips onto the floor as the dildo works into her. It prompts her, making her ride him and the toy faster, hands restricted and nipples aching to be released from their cage.
It’s not a problem for long, because Shawn reaches out and grabs her breasts, pulling down the pink material to reveal a breast, his fingers instantly rolling her nipple between his fingers, squeezing and tugging at it. “Gonna cum, huh? Gonna cum like a good girl?”
She goes to say something but only moans and nods her head. ‘Fuck, baby, you see how gorgeous you look? See how you glow? So fucking beautiful, so fucking pure,” he gasps out, as she quickens her pace.
Suddenly, she feels the silk tie being undone and as soon as her hands are free, she lurches forward, hands pressing to the ground and she picks up her pace, rough and fast, moans and gasps escaping her mouth rapidly.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” she yells, going to grab the dildo and positioning it tightly. He lets go of it then, moving to grab her breasts. Suddenly, he’s out of her but then he has her bent over, hand in her hair, the other wrapped around her throat, fucking her mercislessly yet lovingly.
“See how fucking mesmerising you look?” he hisses out, giving her a harsh thrust. “All fucking mine, gorgeous. All fucking mine.”
That does it. The feeling of the dildo sliding in an out of her walls and having his thick cock work at her becomes to much and she screams, and he grabs her face from behind, hissing out, “Look at that incredible moment? Look at that pretty face coming undone. . so fucking gorgeous, fuck baby!”
She does. She sees how in bliss she looks, looking like all her wants have been fulfilled – they have. Love exudes from her as she comes and when she sees herself, she lets out the biggest moan, before she falls forward and presses her face to the ground.
When they pull the dildo out of her, it’s covered in her juices and Shawn instantly brings it to his mouth, sucking up all that she has to offer. She reaches behind her, putting a thumb into her mouth and collecting some of her cum off his lips so she can taste. And when she does, she moans the moats sensual moan.
That’s when he comes, seeing the round of her ass perched up so perfectly. “Fucking perfect,” he moans, as his thick liquid spills into her.
“Hmm. . you’re still prettier.”

thank you so much!! i choose……. vampy shawn (i used klaus as a villian because what can i say, i love tvd)
“You know we don’t have to spend every minute fighting for our lives, sometimes we can just relax.” Your words were soft but insistent as you circled Shawn’s place on the couch and came to rest beside him.
“I know baby I’m sorry, I just need to keep you safe and with everything going on with Klaus we just don’t have much time.” Shawn groaned apologetically. He lifted a tattooed hand to his curls and fussed with them.
“Relax,” You whispered into his ear as you gently took his hand in your and guided it to your lap. His fingers toyed with the frayed hem on your vintage t-shirt, a nervous habit you knew all too well.
“I can’t.” He sighed. Shawn’s head bowed as though he was ashamed he’d disappointed you. “I just need to make sure nothing happens to you. And while we don’t know Klaus’ plans I can’t ensure that.” His eyes flitted to yours quickly before searching anywhere else but your pointed gaze.
“I know. But this is part of being human, I’m vulnerable. But I’m no more safe from a bizarre accident or natural disaster. Life happens… And you’re missing it with all this worrying mister.” You mused, rubbing gentle patterns into his soft flesh.
“I could never miss you, you’re far too loud for that.” Shawn’s lips quirked in a mischievous smile and his smart-ass comment won him a hard smack on the arm.
“Well, well, well. Big vampire boy has got some fight in him yet.” You pecked his cheek after taunting him. “You know, I have an idea.” Your teasing tone obviously irked him as you dangled your thoughts above his head, unyielding.
“Well?” He prompted, now propping himself up on the couch with his elbow, anxiously awaiting your response.
“The falls?” You finally revealed your thoughts. Shawn’s eyes lit up and you knew you were in for it when he placed one arm under your knees and the other behind your back. The wind flew out of you as he vamped you to the car and strapped you in. You were peeling out of the driveway in no time.
It was early November. The air was crisp but not frigid, the leaves were golden and were falling and beautiful amber sunlight peaked through the naked tips of tall trees along the forest road.
“What are you thinking about?” You prompted Shawn softly. You’d noticed the small smile dancing along his lips and the way his fingertips tapped the wheel merrily to the beat on the radio.
“This day is just really great. I love the fall, I love this town, and I love my girl. I guess I just lost focus of the good things.” His voice was thoughtful, a soft melody as though it fit right in with the lovely acoustic tune in the background.
You felt winded. Shawn was always sweet but it never failed to take you back to the first months of being together. Butterflies swirled in your gut, tickling the insides until your joy was pulling at your lips. “I love you.”
~
After a couple soft songs and several absent-minded knuckle kisses from Shawn, you finally arrived at the falls. As usual, he sped around the side of the car and opened the door for you, holding out a palm for support.
“Thank you.” You smiled brightly at him. You didn’t know how much this particular smile meant to him. He loved opening every door and holding out every chair because your delight was even more than he ever thought he’d have.
“So… Should I speed us to the top?” Shawn’s eyes went dark for a second and his teeth flashed suggestively.
“Absolutely not. We’re doing this the human way, and savoring every moment.” You wagged your finger in front of his face in resolve. Maybe he would have whined or made a joke about how long that would take if it were someone else, but he savors every moment with you.
You start the climb, carefully, and Shawn follows close behind you. He’s ready to steady you, knowing despite your athleticism, you were also quite accident prone.
“Do you remember the first time we came here?” You called back to him, turning around for a moment and then continuing upward. Shawn ducked his head, summoning thoughts of that rainy early spring day.
“Yes, I thought you were insane. You wanted to hike on one of the most stormy days of that April.” His words dripped with content nostalgia.
You scrunched your face in protest, “Hiking to the falls is my happy place. It had been a rough week.” You got defensive, even though you knew he was well aware of this fact.
“I know bubs. I remember trying to talk you out of it. You didn’t know I was a vampire yet.” His words struck you as you realized the timeline.
“Oh my god, I didn’t!” You stopped dead in your tracks and turn around to face Shawn, causing him to bump into you and encircle you in his arms.
“Nope,” He gently kissed your nose and then releases you to continue your march. “When I couldn’t I figured ‘hey at least she wants the one person who could help, should she go sliding down the mountain, to come.’“ You chuckled at his observation.
The hike continued this way; noting places you’d visited previously and moments from past hikes. As you crested the top you walked straight over to the edge and sat down, dangling your feet.
Shawn stood back and watched how your silhouette glowed with the afternoon sun and the beauty of the mountains and waterfalls the ledge looked out on. He noticed you pat the ground beside you and felt himself answering your call.
“There’s so much good, don’t get too in that head of yours.” You reminded him softly, placing your head in the crook of his shoulder. You can’t see it but you feel his jaw move and know he’s grinning.
“I believe it.” He mumbled softly and pressed a kiss to the crown of your head. Things may not be perfect, but nothing is. Shawn reminded himself in that moment that he can’t let himself ever forget about the good that is always beside him.

Now was possibly the worst time for you to be feeling this way, but you just couldn’t help it.
You’d been surrounded by friends for the past several hours after Shawn decided to throw a new year’s eve party for them all this year, and he had decided to wear those jeans. The ones that he’s fully aware you love and make you unable to focus on anything but him, and he’s got the top two buttons on his shirt popped open. And after you’d gotten a few drinks in your system, you were finding it harder and harder to restrain yourself in front of everyone.
You’re sitting at the bar in Shawn’s kitchen, and your friend Eve is making the two of you another gin and tonic. Your elbow rests on the counter and your chin on your fist while you watch him sitting in the living room. He and some of the guys are engrossed in the current game playing on the television, and every so often they erupt into loud cheers when someone makes a score.
Eve slides the gin and tonic over to you and you mutter a thank you as you instinctively reach for the glass. You haven’t taken your eyes off your boyfriend and that feeling in the pit of your stomach keeps getting tighter.
“You’re drooling,” Eve teases, and you glance at her. You take a sip of her drink, the liquid sliding down your throat with ease. Somehow you feel it going straight down to where you need Shawn at the moment.
“Sorry,” you mumble, turning yourself away from Shawn. Eve comes from behind the bar and slides into the seat right next to you.
“I would tell you to go over there, but I doubt you’d be able to tear his attention away from that ball game,”
You look over at Shawn again as he lets out a laugh at something someone else said. He’s doing that thing he always does where he holds his stomach and his eyes crinkle a bit. It kills you and you need to at least be near him right now. At least have him touching you.
“I can at least try,” you say before pushing yourself off the bar stool.
You make your way to the living room, stumbling over your feet bit from deciding to down a fourth glass of alcohol. It is a party after all, but you never intended to get drunk. Tipsy maybe, but it’s also not your fault that Eve knows how to make a mean drink.
You plop down beside him, one hand immediately finding its way to his slightly unruled hair while you rest your her head on his shoulder. He wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
“Hey, beautiful,” he says, taking a second to kiss you sweetly.
“Hi,” you mumble back against his lips. You take his hand in your own and start absentmindedly playing with his rings. His focus is on the game again, having decided he could only spare a moment of his attention for you.
He does start to lightly scratch his fingertips up and down your back, and you smile knowing he does stuff like this sometimes. Whenever he’s talking to someone or something else has captured his attention, he’ll do something to let you know that he knows you’re still there with him.
You shift yourself, nuzzling deeper into the crook of his neck and your head swirls as you breathe him in. He smells heavenly–despite the alcohol on his breath–and you swear that the room full of people is the only thing stopping you from mounting him right here and now. A few giggles escape past your lips as you plants several kisses to the side of his neck. You nip gently at the skin, taking the liberty of creating a few hickeys.
Shawn hisses softly, his body leaning into your touch. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing,” you say playfully as you licks over the forming bruise. Your hand drops down to his leg, your fingers drawing random shapes on the fabric of his jeans before you slowly start to drag your hand up his thigh. It’s innocent at first. You only want to get a reaction out of him. Get him to spare a little more time for you. But as you move closer and closer to the line of his underwear you start to realize how badly you really want him.
He snakes an arm around your legs, bringing them across his lap. His grip on your waist tightens as he brings his lips down to your ear.
“Not now,” he whispers, grabbing your wrist and planting a kiss on your temple. You sigh but continues to cling onto him as the ball game draws to an end. You have to admit you’re a little surprised he’s not giving into you after the drinks he’s had, but you like a challenge.
“I need you,” you whine, hiccuping a little. You giggle and attach your lips to his neck once more. His grip on your wrist has loosened so you wiggle it free and slide your hand down to reach for his belt.
You hear him groan. “You wanna take me right here, right now?” He asks under his breath so your friends can’t hear. “In front of everyone?”
He’s smirking at you a bit now, and you roll your eyes, playfully pushing his arm. “Let’s take this to your room.”
Shawn shakes his head. “Can’t,” he says, “Game’s almost over and we’re gonna watch the countdown.”
Another round of cheering breaks out behind them and someone announces that it’s the end of the game. Shawn raises his beer bottle to join the celebration with the rest of their friends and you nearly fall off of him when he decides to stand.
You huff, folding your arms across your body. You’re about to stalk off when he winds one of his fingers through one of your belt loops and pulls you back into him. His chest is flush against your back and you can tell that you’ve gotten him a little hard when you feel something poking her butt.
“Just a bit longer baby, I promise,” he slurs against the spot underneath your jaw that gets your knees to buckle. “Then I’m all yours.”
“Can’t wait,” you murmur. “Need you now.”
You’re starting to get desperate. The wetness in your pants is growing the longer he’s got his hands on you, and you wishes everyone would leave so he could take you however he’d like. When you’re like this, all you really need is for Shawn to take care of you. You need him on her or inside her–you don’t care. You simply need him.
His hands drop from your hips and he leaves to get another drink. When he returns from the kitchen again he pulls you down beside him on the couch. You swing one leg over both of his to straddle him, and when he starts to laugh at you, you kiss him deeply.
He moans into your mouth and thankfully the tv is playing loud enough that only you hear it. His hand travels down to your ass to give it a squeeze as he tugs gently at your bottom lip. You jump, your face flushing while you hope nobody is seeing what’s going on between you.
“You two need to get a room,” Eve scorns from where she sits on the arm of the couch, throwing a few pieces of popcorn at them.
You throw them back at her before Shawn ushers you up. He pinches the sides of your waist as he leads you back to his bedroom, trying his best not to draw any attention to the two of you while you swat his hands away.
“You’re not going to stay to watch the ball drop? There’s only minutes left,” someone asks when Shawn stumbles over you just as you’re about to make it to his room.
“We’ll be right back. We uh…we left something in my room. So we’re going to go….get it….” Shawn lies, licking his lips before giving them an unconvincing smile.
You tug on his arm, pulling him away from everyone else and into his bedroom and he almost trips over you again. As soon as the door is shut you’re all over him like before. Your hands glide underneath his shirt, your fingertips dancing over his torso while you work to peel his shirt off of him.
You move over to the bed, falling down onto his lap. Your top comes off next and Shawn immediately falls against your chest. Your fingers lock themselves in his curls while you grind against his hips and he fumbles with your bra.
“Can’t get this damn thing off,” he mutters and you help him get it off, throwing it to an opposite corner of the room. His hands settle back down on your hips, guiding you as you roll against him.
You hear people begin to countdown outside, but you can hardly register any of it now.

“Wanna taste you,” he says, and you gasp when he flips the two of you over. You lift your hips, helping him relieve you of your jeans and he moans when he gets a good look at you in your underwear.
You bite your lip, shivering as his fingers trail up your thighs–just barely ghosting over the sensitive skin. He rubs circles on them, spreading them apart to rest his head between them and where you’re aching for him. You whimper as he hooks onto your underwear, pulling them down agonizingly slow.
“Look at you, love,” Shawn taunts, licking your lips and purposefully avoiding where you need him the most. “You’re dripping for me. You properly soaked through your panties.”
“Shawn,” you whine as he continues his torment.
“So pretty,” he says, his eyes flickering up to yours for a moment. You hold back another whimper at the sight of him. The way he looks with his face buried between your thighs is your favorite image. It almost makes you want to cum on the spot.

His hot breath breath fans over your center before he gives it a lick, his tongue swirling over your clit.
You gasp, a moan following soon after. Your hips buck up to his face and his hand splays across your stomach, pushing you back down to the bed. You grind against his face, your hands tangling in his hair and pushing his tongue deeper inside you.
“Tell me how good it feels,” he groans, sending vibrations through your entire body.
Her eyes flutter shut as she sinks her head further into the pillow. “It…it…”
He slides a finger inside you, causing your back to arch off the bed. The corner of his lips quirk as he pumps in and out of you, waiting for your response. The way he’s hitting the spot inside you that makes you unravel and the way he’s got his mouth wrapped around your bundle of nerves is sinful, and you’re mere seconds away from coming undone.
“Taste amazing, angel. That’s it,” he encourages as you throw your legs around his shoulders. You’re writhing beneath him, shuddering every time he sinks into you.
“Please,” you beg, “I’m gonna cum.”

He picks up his pace, and you clench. You’re close to the edge, your orgasm threatening to make you spill all over him.
“Cum for me then,” he groans, and that’s all you need to fall apart
He holds your legs apart when you try to close them as your orgasm washes over you. You’re trembling helplessly as you coat his chin in your cum. He smirks at you, licking every bit of it up before crawling up your body to your face.
He leans down to kiss you and you taste yourself all over him. His tongue swipes across his bottom lip when he pulls away from you. He wipes the corner of his chin with his thumb, slipping it between your teeth.
One last cheer and applause can be heard from the rest of the house as the countdown ends and everyone shouts ‘happy new year!’
Shawn lies down beside you, rolling over so some of his weight rests on you. He presses a kiss to your nose, letting a few giggles slip out.
“Happy new year, baby,” he whispers.

a/n: there are like three au’s in here lol. baker!shawn cafe owner!shawn neighbor!shawn….so here ya go lol.
Shawn wasn’t just your neighbor, he was one of your best friends. A best friend who you had a massive crush on. He didn’t really give you a choice though. Shawn was perfect, he was a little dorky, and sweet, and the best listener when you needed a shoulder to cry on. You weren’t positive, but something told you that he felt the same about you. He’d always bring you muffins, or cupcakes from his shop at the end of the night, sometimes when you’d had a really shitty day he’d show up at your door with a smile and ingredients for your favorite cupcakes of his. He always said they’d never be in the shop because they were ‘our little secret.’
It was another Friday night in his kitchen, music playing from his speakers with you sat on his counter while he worked on a new recipe he’s been trying out for the shop. He never talked much when he was baking, but you were happy to be there as his taste tester.
“I love watching you work. You’re so in your element”
“What can I say, cupcakes are my passion,” he smirks up at you.
Quickly you dip your tiny finger into the bowl of freshly made frosting.
“You can’t wait two minutes.” he chuckles batting your hand away.
“Nope.” you hum around your finger, “I like this one. Are you going to keep it?”
“Haven’t decided yet.” he shrugs, scooping more of the purple frosting into a piping bag.“Do you want to help?”
“They’re not going to be very pretty.”
“It’s okay,” he laughs extending the bag to you, “I just wanted to make something. I kind of had a shitty day. This makes me feel better.”
You hop off the counter, taking the piping bag from him. It feels so awkward in your hand. Usually, you just stick with using a butter knife and plaster the little cakes in store bought frosting. He makes a bag for himself, taking a cupcake showing you how much pressure to use and when to lift up. It looks easy enough but yours turn out looking miles away from his.
“Don’t laugh at me! I’m trying.” you pout, playfully hitting his shoulder.
“I’m not it just…you’re really beautiful.” He smiled.
You look down, feeling your cheeks heat up and shaking your head. “Stop,” you smile nervously.
“I mean it.”
“What is with you and the flattery tonight.”
He’d been extra sweet to you all night, but you didn’t want to read too much into it because that’s what you always did. Something would happen, a boy would be nice to you or compliment you, you’d read between lines that didn’t exist and then end up making a fool of yourself. But apparently with Shawn, you were right.
He shrugs his shoulders, looking back down at his cupcakes with a coy smile, “You deserve to hear it.”
“Well…thank you.”
He sets down his piping bag, and step closer to you, “Can I kiss you?” Shawn blurted.
“What?” You giggle nervously. Of course, you want to kiss him, but you can’t be hearing him properly.
“I want to kiss you.” he whispers, eyes glued to yours, “Can I?”
It feels so random, so out of the blue and yet like you’d been waiting for ages. Like it was the perfect time. There is only a second of hesitation before your nodding your head slowly.
And he leans in framing your face in his large hands and slowly meets his lips to yours, first with a peck, and then with a proper kiss. It’s slow and soft. It feels like your lips were made for each other. He pulls away from you, with the widest grin on his face.
“You taste like honey.” He says making you giggle. You pull him back down, bringing his lips back to yours in another kiss, but he pulls away quickly again, and you see the smallest bit of insecurity behind his eyes.
“Is this okay?”
“It’s perfect.”
